AI opens the way for a Northern European automotive procurement consortium. Secto-led partnership triples buying power
Secto Automotive is leading a Northern European automotive procurement consortium with Norwegian Autoplan and Estonian Mobire, which operates across the Baltic region. The consortium's combined fleet of approximately 35,000 vehicles triples Secto's negotiating power, which in Finland is based on its own fleet of around 12,000 vehicles. The partnership is enabled by Secto's AI-native operating model. The first joint tender is underway in the tire category, and the consortium will expand in autumn with new categories and new participants.
The consortium creates a structural scale advantage by consolidating procurement data across three Northern European companies into a single negotiating position. Previously, such cooperation would have required months of integration work. Secto's AI-native operating model lowers the threshold for new participants to weeks, which is at the core of the company's growth strategy.
"We have built the capability to act as a larger buyer than our size would suggest. Alone, Secto is Finland's second-largest vehicle buyer, and the consortium gives us significant scale at the Northern European level", says Jarno Pajunen, Director, Sourcing & Consultation, Secto Automotive. "This is not a one-off joint purchase, but a permanent structure that changes how automotive procurement works in Northern Europe."
Consortium will expand in autumn
The consortium will grow over time in several directions. New categories include other automotive services and vehicle purchases. New participants will join the consortium, and changes to its composition will be announced during the autumn.
AI-native operating model is the foundation for growth
Secto builds AI into its service model from the ground up, not as a layer on top of existing systems. This gives the company the ability to launch new types of cooperation structures quickly and scale them across Northern Europe. The procurement consortium is the first visible example of this AI-native operating model.
"Personal service remains the foundation of Secto's customer experience. AI enables us to improve service and handle larger customer volumes without a corresponding increase in headcount", says Linus Baer, Chief Operating Officer, Secto Automotive.
"For Secto, data and AI are not a support function. They are a source of competitive advantage, customer value, and growth", says Markus Vuolle, CEO, Secto Automotive. "We are currently building business models that the industry has not seen before. The consortium is the first of them, and the next steps will be taken within this year."
A Finnish company is building structures across Northern Europe. This is the central choice in Secto's growth strategy, and it rests on the AI-native operating model.
The procurement advantages generated by the consortium benefit Secto's leasing and corporate vehicle customers through a broader service offering, more competitive pricing, and improved operational efficiency. The results of the first categories will be assessed during 2026.
